Setting the Record Straight

June 20, 2007

I didn’t want to have to do this but it has come to my attention (from several different sources) that one of my former students is, shall we say, stretching the truth about his enrollment and graduation from Storm Wrestling Academy. I don’t like to speak ill of any of my students, regardless of how good or bad they might be, but this student is making claims that are completely untrue, and I think I need to clear the air and set the record straight.

The student in question, wrestles in the UK under the name Matt Vaughn, and attended my January 2007 training session. Matt was a trained worker before attending my training session and has since returned to the UK and is making all sorts of claims about his time with me. I have heard (again from several different people) of claims that Matt was both my top and favourite student, and that I thought he could be the next Dynamite Kid. These claims could not be farther from the truth.

For the record Matt Vaughn (Daniel Prosser) did enrolled in my January 2007 session, but unfortunately seldom attended. I didn’t actually count the days he was present, but I would be surprised if he made more than ¼ of the scheduled training session. He was almost never in class and put forth practically no effort to train with me. Matt had many reasons for not attending class, ranging from, minor injuries (suffered while working Indy shots locally) to… well wanting to sleep in.

I would in no way consider Matt Vaughn a graduate of Storm Wrestling Academy, and doubt he learned much if anything from me during his time here. I even joked with Matt on the final day of evaluations that I didn’t really see him enough to offer an evaluation and thought he spent an awful lot of money to come to Calgary and work a few Indy dates.

I am not writing this to bury Matt Vaughn or hamper his wrestling career, I wish him well, but I do wanted to set the record straight that any claims that Matt Vaughn was a top student of mine, or even a graduate of Storm Wrestling Academy are completely false.

If any one out there has questions about the ability or validity of any Storm Wrestling Academy “grad” I encourage you to contact me directly and get the straight story, right from the horses mouth. I would be happy to give you a direct and honest evaluation of any of my students you may wish to book or work with. Just because someone appears in a class photo on my site, does not mean they have graduated or even completed their training.

All the best everyone,
Lance Storm
