Random TV Thoughts

WWE: RAW July 14, 2008
- That was the worst bloody ending to a wrestling show ever. Did WWE hear about the crap finish to the TNA PPV and decide to top it with something even dumber? This ruined the entire show for me and I am mad beyond words.
- Before we even get to the murder or at least attempted murder on RAW, what was up with the CRAP finish to the match. Since when, ever in the entire history of wrestling, has a save on a pin attempt by a partner in the match been a DQ? NEVER!!!!
- They couldn't find one person in that entire match that could do a job, or come up with a better DQ than JBL breaking up a submission hold? F---ing AWFUL!
- Now onto the attempted murder. Stuff like this ruins wrestling for me. I know this shit is supposed to be "fake" but we are still supposed to be able to believe it's real while watching it, and I could no longer do that after JBL tried to and I assume succeeded in killing John Cena, on live television. If we are to believe Cena got hit he has to be dead, and even if he moved, JBL attempted to kill a man on tv and will have to be arrested for attempted murder for this angle to be believable in the slightest.
- This doesn't even cover the fact that they in no way even came close to booking enough motivation for JBL to go to these lengths. They stood on the apron across from each other for the whole match, and then after JBL kicks Cena in the head once we are to believe that he is somehow now pushed over the edge to the point where he attempts to murder Cena.
- Worst angle since Papa Shango put a voodoo curse on the Ultimate Warrior.
- On a more humorous note perhaps Kane some how got his RAW scripts a couple weeks early and the inexplicable "is he dead or is he alive" crap is in reference to John Cena and Kane just started his part of the angle a few weeks early.
- I think I'm going to take a break from RAW and go watch SD. At least there I get to hear Jim Ross.

WWE: ECW July 11, 2008 (Airs Friday in Canada)
- What a horrible show. I think ECW needs to add a better booking initiative more so than their new talent policy.
- The Finlay match and the Evan Bourne match were fun, but that Main Event finish was SOOOO stupid.
- The Tony Atlas thing was the worst swerve for the sake of a swerve I've ever seen. This tops even the dumbest stuff done in TNA.
- Are we to believe that Mark Henry and Tony Atlas conspired this big swerve where Tony acted like a good guy and Mark pretended to disrespect him, just to pull the wool over everyone's eyes, so Tony could turn on Collin Delaney, and Mark could pull out a double count out non finish in a match with Tommy Dreamer. What a freak'n waste!
- Speaking of huge wastes, quite the debut for Braden Walker. I don't know Chris Harris but anyone who shows up for their WWE debut in the worst shape of their career, deserves to be fired. Wellness policy aside, I don't believe the treadmill is on the banned substance list!

WWE:SmackDown July 11, 2008
- I haven't watched SD in a while but the need to hear JR's voice call wrestling brought me back to Friday nights. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a Michael Cole hater, I think he's actually pretty good at his job, but for me JR's voice and wrestling go together like cake and ice cream. Everyone likes cake, but it's just that much better with ice cream. Even the greatest match is a little bit better with JR calling it.
- I usually hate soap opera, but I think the Edge - Vicky program is excellent. Edge is the best character in wrestling and his fight with Vicky was the most realistic and believable break up / reconciliation done in recent history. I wasn't left feeling swerved and both remained hated through out despite both turning on each other.
- Can someone explain the brand split to me please. Since getting drafted to ECW Matt Hardy has been on SD more than he has ECW. There was, I think, 8 ECW stars on this show. How could Vicky fire Chavo and Bam Nealy when they DON'T work for her, They are ECW contracted talent?
- Not a great show as far as wrestling matches went, but I enjoyed the show enough based solely on the strength of Edge's acting and the drama created by he and Vicky.
- A great little detail point in the show that I loved. Koslov was actually going for a dragon screw leg whip before he got hit with the enzugire by Stevie. Great attention to detail!!!!

TNA: Impact June 19, 2008
- It's been a while since I've comment on an Impact show, but this week I just had to say something. And what I have to say is THANK YOU!
- Thank you to Team 3D, AJ Styles, and Chirstian Cage. That main event tag match was FANTASTIC. I was starting to wonder if I'd lost my ability to just enjoy a wrestling match anymore, because I usally sit on my couch detached from the match cringing at things I consider poorly done. This match showed me that was not the case, because I got so into this match and enjoyed it immensely. I got interested in the match right from Bubba's believable promo delivery and got more into it as the match progressed. This match built to an amazing climax and for my money was one of the best matches I've seen on TV in a long time. For me, great nearfalls are the money in a match, and this match had more money than the McMillions give-a-way.
- Kudos also to TNA for giving this match some time and a clean finish. In time past the Frank Trigg / Kurt Angle run in would have been before the finish and letting this match have a clean finish is a HUGE improvement
- I also loved the Awesome Kong segment. This whole fan challenge idea was brilliant. This allowed Kong to destroy girls and get over as a killer without jobbing out the entire Knockout division. Progressing to non-TNA women wrestlers taking up the challenge made TNA look like the place to be for women wrestling. And this week they made a new star in Shantelle Taylor, in a match that Kong still went over strongly and clean. Brilliant, how many times have I said that about TNA? I hope I get it say it more.
